The children have really been enjoying their mini beasts topic, we decided to make some bug hotels to place around the school gardens. Firstly, we collected twigs, leaves, moss and a little bit of soil and then layered these items in the milk container. Then we placed the bug hotels around damp, moist and dark places that we thought might attract mini beasts.
After a few days, we went to investigate if our bug hotels had any guests, we took our viewing containers and magnifying glasses and went off to inspect. The children were overjoyed to find: woodlouse, spiders, a clock and a shiny trail that lead to a snail.
